William M. Gillespie

William M. Gillespie, 97, Akron, IN (Rock Lake), died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at his residence. He was born at VanWert, Ohio on January 16, 1916 to Joshua & Mary May (Sherburn) Gillespie. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1935 and on November 20, 1938 he married Selena L. Rhodes. She died September 14, 2001. Bill owned and operated the Standard Oil Gas Station in Silver Lake, IN and later was a mechanic at Kerlin Motor Co. at Silver Lake for 30 years. He was a member of the West Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Billie) Risner, Akron, IN. Three grandchildren, Ginger Dwyer, Florida, Nicole (Albert) Gutierrez, Akron, IN and Stacey (Chris) Hoxie, Silver Lake, IN. Seven great grandchildren, Heather & Sara Dwyer, Emma & Bella Gutierrez and Dylon, Elizabeth & Gavin Hoxie. He was preceded in death by a son, Jay Gillespie in 2010, five sisters and a half brother. Services will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary. Pastor Ed French will officiate services and burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of William M.
