Wilda E. Metzger

Wilda E. Metzger, 88, Columbia City, IN and formerly of rural North Manchester, IN died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her residence. She was born at Huntington, Indiana on December 9, 1921 to August F. & Elizabeth (Kocher) Poehler. On September 29, 1946 she married Carl E. Metzger. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Lee W. Metzger, Lagrange, IN and a sister, Wilma M. Pinckley, of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald C. Poehler; five sisters, Pauline L.C. Auer, Evelyn A. Ernst, Dorothy E. Brown, Nina Poehler and Melinda Poehler. Wilda attended St. Peter's Lutheran School at Huntington and graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1941. That same year she graduated from Wayne Beauty School. She was a homemaker and beautician in Huntington and Ft. Wayne. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Columbia City, IN. Services will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call from 10 - 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the mortuary. Pastor Jerrold Nichols will officiate and burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. For those who wish to honor the memory of Wilda E.
