Walter E. Blocher

Walter E. Blocher, 85, North Manchester, IN died Friday, February 4, 2011 at 2:00 a.m. in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born February 2, 1926 in Minot, ND to Simon & Lucy (Wagoner) Blocher. On April 6, 1947 he married Jerra Lee Burkart. She died on July 24, 2004. Walter was a WWII Army veteran. He retired after 30 years as a Carpenter with D & C Construction, South Whitley, IN. Walter was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, IN and former member of the North Manchester Jaycees. He was an avid woodworker and and excellent finish carpenter. He was a loving father, grandfather & great grandfather. He is survived by three sons, Joe (Jill) Blocher, Bristol, IN, Jeffry Blocher, North Manchester, IN and Jan (Nancy) Blocher, North Manchester, IN; one daughter, Tena (Byron) Brunn, North Manchester, IN; five sisters, Etta Ulrey, North Manchester, IN, Anna (Kenneth) Fingerle, North Manchester, IN, Lydia Kinzie, Delphi, IN, Dorothy (Lester) Bower, West Alexandria, OH and Bernice Garber, West Manchester, OH; Eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. Four brothers are deceased. Services Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call Monday, February 7, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, IN. Pastor J. P. Freeman and Donald Brubaker will officiate.
