Tommy D. Steele

Tommy D. "Tom" Steele, 68, North Manchester, IN died at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2012 in Peabody Healthcare Center. He was born June 9, 1943 in Whitley County, Indiana to Robert D. & Martha E. (Overholser) Steele. On March 24, 1961 he married Marieta A. Renicker. She survives. Tom was a tanker truck driver for Laketon Refinery for five years and a fire truck driver for the North Manchester Fire Department. He retired as a driver for Auto Transport, Springfield, Ohio after 27 years service. He was a member of First Brethren Church, Izaac Walton League and the Moose Lodge # 1518, all of North Manchester, IN. Also surviving are two daughters, Joyce (Kenny) Shepherd and Marsha (David) Kline, both of North Manchester, IN. Three grandchildren, Jon Shepherd, Jennifer Eis and Alisha Schannep. Five great-grandchildren, Isaiah Eis, Keydan Shepherd, Layla Shepherd, Marshall Carter amd Aryana Shepherd. Seven sisters, Carolyn Nichols, Mrs. John (Marlena) Barrett, Mrs. Stephen (Vicky) White, Karen Steele, Mrs. Kent (Teresa) Coble, Mrs. Jay (Kimberly) Vanlandingham, all of North Manchester, IN and Mrs. Keith (Connie) Lytle, Estill Springs, TN. A sister-in-law, Donna Mae Renicker, North Manchester, IN and two best friends since childhood, Bryan Hidy and Terry West. Services will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call from 12 noon - 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKee's. Pastor Kurt Stout will officiate and burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.
