Susanna Eakright, 88, Wabash, formerly of North Manchester, passed away February 16, 2024, at The Waters of Wabash West. The daughter of James D. and Ruth L. (Stafford) Cordill, Susanna was born June 29, 1935, in South Whitley, Indiana.
Susanna was seventeen when she wed Max D. Eakright on December 25, 1952. The two were married for fifty years before Max passed away on February 14, 2003. During their time together, the couple was blessed with four children, DeWayne, Rick, Deborah, and Cindy. Susanna worked hard to provide for all the needs of her children, and she always delighted in babysitting her family’s children. From cooking to cleaning to nurturing, Susanna was a homemaker and the rock of her family. For a short time she also worked outside the home at Bryan Manufacturing in North Manchester.
The loving memory of Susanna Eakright will be forever cherished by her sons, DeWayne D. (Ethel) Eakright, North Manchester, and Rick (Debra) Eakright, Laketon; daughters, Deborah Pakis, North Manchester, and Cindy Burke, Urbana; sisters, Judy Stouden and Sereta (Danny) Jasper, both of Florida; eighteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, Rylan, Paislee, Grayson, and Kayden. Susanna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max D. Eakright; brothers, Elmer L., Donald E., James W., Charles “Chuck”, and Max Cordill; son-in-law, John Frank Burke; grandson, DeWayne Dale Eakright Jr; and one great-grandchild.
Family and friends may call Monday, February 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with calling beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Hostetler officiating. Burial will follow at South Whitley Cemetery, 7745 State Road 14, South Whitley, Indiana.
The family of Susanna Eakright has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements.
