Ruth E. Warner

Ruth E. Warner, 94, North Manchester, IN died at 3:00 p.m. November 8, 2009 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center. She was born in Jackson Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana on December 14, 1914 to Chester Ray & Edith (Montel) Metzger. On March 7, 1936 she married Donald B. Warner. He died August 17, 1976. As a child Ruth attended the Maple Grove School near Silver Lake and the Eel River Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1933, was active in the Ladies Aid of the Liberty Mills Church Brethren, where she was a member. She has kept busy sewing for her family and has made a lot of clothing for relief in other contries, especially Haiti. Her special love was quilting and she made about 60 quilts, most of which are cherished by her family, but many were given to the Mennonite Quilt Auction to raise money for relief. Ruth was a homemaker and she and her husband farmed in Whitley County until his death. Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Warner, South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Jeff (Becky) Brubaker, Silver Lake, IN; Tim (Sally) Brubaker, Goshen, IN and Susan (David) Stackhouse, Bourbon, IN. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren and a niece that Ruth & Donald raised as a daughter, Ann Slate, Norwalk, OH. A daughter, Beverly Brubaker, a brother and a sister are deceased. SERVICES WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2009 AT 11:00 A.M. IN TIMBERCREST CHAPEL, 2201 EAST STREET, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN. FRIENDS AND FAMILY MAY CALL TWO HOURS PRIOR TO THE SERVICE AT TIMBERCREST CHAPEL. Pastor David Stackhouse and Pastor Erin Huiras will officiate and burial will follow at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Ruth Warner, memorial contributions may be made to Heifer Project International, PO Box 8058, Little Rock, AR 72203 or Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, PO Box 101, Liberty Mills, IN 46946 or a hospice of the donor's choice.
