Ruth Ellen Egolf, 103, passed away July 3, 2024 at Timbercrest Senior Living Community in North Manchester. Born May 30, 1921 in Allen County, she was the daughter of Grover and Zella (Bice) Green. Ruth graduated from Huntertown High School and married Frank Egolf on January 2, 1940. They lived in Allen County much of their life, moving to Fort Wayne in 1992. Frank died October 15, 1992 and in 2003 Ruth moved to Timbercrest.
Ruth was a homemaker and worked for twenty-five years at Lincoln Life, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Agape Church of the Brethren and later Manchester Church of the Brethren. In addition to family and friends, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making greeting cards.
Survivors include son, Larry (Carolyn) Egolf, Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Linda (Matt) Fortney, Fort Wayne, Brent Egolf, Elkhart, and Regina (Ben) Hooley, North Webster; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Ray Egolf; parents; sister, Evelyn Fry; and brothers, Bennie, Wallace, and Russell Green.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, with calling at 12:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at Eel River Cemetery, 11022 Carroll Road, Churubusco, Indiana. Pastor Amy Gall Ritchie and Jan Fairchild will officiate.
