Ruth (Cook) Bowers

Ruth (Cook) Bowers, 90, Silver Lake, Indiana, passed away January 18, 2024, at her home. The daughter of Emery E. and Mary E. (Fingerle) Cook, Ruth was born at home in North Manchester on September 5, 1933.

In the summer of 1951, Ruth gave her life to Jesus and was baptized into the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Silver Lake. A few months later she married Robert Bowers on September 16, 1951. The two were blessed with four children, Dennis, Roger, Gerald, and Beverly. Ruth worked as a homemaker, raising her children.

The loving memory of Ruth Bowers will be forever cherished by her husband, Robert Bowers, Silver Lake; daughter-in-law, Treva Bowers, North Manchester; son, Roger (Valerie) Bowers, Rocky Mount, Virginia; daughter, Beverly (Chris) Dyson, North Manchester; thirteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Dennis L. Bowers and Gerald L. “Jerry” Bowers; brothers, Edward E. “Cookie” Cook, Marvin Cook, and Arthur Cook; and sister, Opal Metzger.

Family and friends may call Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2128 East 1200 South, Silver Lake. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will follow at the Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.
