Ruth Blankenship, 88, North Manchester, Indiana passed away peacefully in her home at 7:26 a.m. on December 21, 2017. The last of seven children, Ruth was born on January 11, 1930 in Greyeagle, West Virginia to Bill and Ersie (Newsome) Whitt.
On March 3, 1947 Ruth married her soulmate Albert Blankenship. They were married for fifty-four years before Albert passed away on July 17, 2001. Both Ruth and Albert were members of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, Indiana. Family always came first in Ruth's life, she also loved attending church, cooking holiday meals for her family, planting a vegetable garden, canning, crocheting, hand quilting, playing guitar and singing. During their marriage Ruth worked at Bryan Manufacturing, North Manchester, Indiana for fourteen years and in 1993 she retired from Invensys Controls, North Manchester after thirteen years of service.
Ruth's loving memory will be forever remembered by her daughter, Alberta Blankenship, North Manchester, Indiana; one son, Leonard (Pauline) Blankenship, Silver Lake, Indiana; four grandchildren, Randy (Nola) Blankenship, Mark (Season) Blankenship, both of North Manchester, Indiana, Andrew Blankenship, Fayetteville, North Carolina and Melinda (Lorenzo) Adams, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; eight great-grandchildren, Aaron (Joni) Blankenship, Laketon, Indiana, Austin Blankenship, Lenny Easterly, Ashley Blankenship, Chesnie Blankenship, Chelsie Blankenship, all of North Manchester, Indiana, Jordan (Karissa) Womack, Fort Wayne, Indiana and Aysia Easterly, Murfreesboro, Tennessess; six great-great-grandchildren, Alexis Bonewitz, Bailey Blankenship, Alexander Blankenship, Carter Blankenship, Lillian Womack, Kyson Easterly. Ruth is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ersie Whitt; husband, Albert Blankenship; three brothers, Curtis, Harold and Billy Whitt; three sisters Betty McNealy, Helen Meade and Christine Flora; one great-grandson, Anthony Blankenship.
Family and friends may call Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, 303 South Jefferson Street, Silver Lake, Indiana. Funeral services will begin Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana. Jason Smith will officiate.
