Russell S Hoover

Russell S. Hoover, 92, North Manchester, IN passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 12:25 a.m. in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born October 8, 1925 in Wabash County, IN to Lawrence & Mary (Frantz) Hoover.  He graduated in 1943 from Laketon High School, Laketon, IN.  On April 24, 1948 he married Joann Snell.  Russell was employed with Harting Furniture, North Manchester, IN from 1947-1967 and then Peabody Seating Co., North Manchester, IN 1967-1976 and Zimmer, Warsaw, IN as a leadman over buildings and grounds for 15 years.  He retired in 1991.  He like playing golf, singing in the West Manchester Church of the Brethren Choir, any activities at Timbercrest, euchre and was part of a traveling pool league.  He loved his church family and family, especially  playing games with them.  Russell came from a large family that was close. They played games and sometimes they became very competitive.  He was a member of West Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, IN.  Russell is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joann Hoover, North Manchester, IN; sons, Steve (Kris) Hoover, Westfield, IN and Randy (Sandy) Hoover, Hilton Head, SC; daughter, Nancy (Frank) Harris, Michigan City, IN; sister, Grace Metzger, North Manchester, IN; grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Stewart, Westfield, IN, Ashley (Lance) Vogel, Indianapolis, IN, Katie Hoover Hoffman, Cincinnati, OH, Neil Harris, Warsaw, IN and Amy (Steve) Maull, Warsaw, IN; Three great grandchildren; Cameron and Luke Stewart and Zoe Vogel. Also survived by grand dog, Harley. Two brothers, Homer & Ray Hoover, and two sisters, Ruby Muir and Verna Shively, are deceased.  Family and friends may call November 18, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN. Services will be November 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN.  Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Russell Hoover, memorial contributions may be made to Timbercrest Charitable Assistance Fund, PO Box 501, North Manchester, IN 46962.
