Robert D. Steele, 88, North Manchester, IN died at 12:27 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born August 12, 1922 in North Manchester, IN to Alfred & Ruby P. (Rhinehart) Steele. On Novermber 28, 1942 he married Martha E. Overholser. She died August 7, 2001. Surviving are a son, Tommy (Marieta) Steele, North Manchester, IN. Seven daughters, Mrs. Keith (Connie) Lytle, Estill Springs, TN; Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Nichols, Mrs. John (Marlena) Barrett, Mrs. Stephen (Vicky) White, Karen Steele, Mrs. Kent (Teresa) Coble and Mrs. Jay (Kimberly) Vanlandingham, all of North Manchester. 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Lewis (LaDonna) Gale, North Manchester. One grandchild and three sisters are deceased. Bob retired from the former Peabody Seating Co. at North Manchester after 27years. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and attended Congregational Christian Church. Passionate about antique cars, Bob drove a 1931 Model-A Ford for many years. He attended antique car swap meets and was a member of the Kosciusko County Antique Car Club. He enjoyed singing in the choir at Peabody Retirement Community. Services will be held Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call from 12 noon - 2:00 on Sunday at the mortuary. Pastor J.P. Freeman and Pastor Kurt Stout will officiate and burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley St., North Mancheeter.
