Richard B. "Dick" Whitacre

Richard B. "Dick" Whitacre, 79, North Manchester, IN died at 3:47 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in his residence. He was born May 3, 1931 in Kokomo, Indiana to Benjamin B. & Agnes (Finch) Whitacre. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1949 and served in the US Army in Korea 1952-1954. On December 23, 1950 he married Grace Lovelace. He was a self empolyed farmer for many years and also employed with Cyclone Manufacturing, Urbana, IN for 21 years retiring in 1993. He also drove school bus for 9 years for Manchester Community Schools. For many years he was active in the Men's Monday Night Bowling League. He is survived by his wife, Grace Whitacre, North Manchester, IN; one son, Stanley (Anita) Whitacre, Burlington, IN; two daughters, Shelley (Tim) Graves, North Manchester, IN and Stephanie (Ian) MacFarlane, North Manchester, IN; one brother, Robert V. Whitacre, Kokomo, IN; one sister, Nancy Obermeyer, Kokomo, IN; seven grandchilren and seven great grandchildren. One sister, Janet Ann Whitacre is deceased. One grandson died in 2000. Friends and family may call Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Rev. Kevin DeKoninck will officiate.
