Richard B. "Dick" Whitacre

Richard B. "Dick" Whitacre, 79, North Manchester, IN died at 3:47 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in his residence. He was born May 3, 1931 in Kokomo, Indiana to Benjamin B. & Agnes (Finch) Whitacre. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1949 and served in the US Army in Korea 1952-1954. On December 23, 1950 he married Grace Lovelace. He was a self empolyed farmer for many years and also employed with Cyclone Manufacturing, Urbana, IN for 21 years retiring in 1993. He also drove school bus for 9 years for Manchester Community Schools. For many years he was active in the Men's Monday Night Bowling League. He is survived by his wife, Grace Whitacre, North Manchester, IN; one son, Stanley (Anita) Whitacre, Burlington, IN; two daughters, Shelley (Tim) Graves, North Manchester, IN and Stephanie (Ian) MacFarlane, North Manchester, IN; one brother, Robert V. Whitacre, Kokomo, IN; one sister, Nancy Obermeyer, Kokomo, IN; seven grandchilren and seven great grandchildren. One sister, Janet Ann Whitacre is deceased. One grandson died in 2000. Friends and family may call Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Rev. Kevin DeKoninck will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Richard Whitacre, memorial contributions may be to North Manchester United Methodist Church, 306 E.
