Richard E. Bechtold

Richard E. Bechtold age 82 passed away June 20, 2018 at 2:50 p.m. at Miller's Merry Manor East, Wabash, IN.  He was born on August 29, 1935, one of twelve children, to William E. and Edith (Freshour) Bechtold.  Richard was married to Ruth E. Prilaman on June 15, 1957.  She passed away December 11, 2013.  Richard and Ruth were parents to three children, one son; Jeffrey (Trish) Bechtold, Lagro, IN and two daughters; Cindy (Tom) Hicks, Kendallville, IN.,  Sally (Glenn) Steele, North Manchester, IN,  six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, all of whom survive.

Also surviving are five brothers; Tom (Marcella) Bechtold, North Manchester, IN, Melvin Bechtold, Columbia City, IN, Don (Helen) Bechtold, North Manchester, IN, Terry (Becky) Bechtold, Urbana, IN, and Larry Bechtold, North Manchester, IN, two sisters; Shelba (Dean) Neher, North Manchester, IN and Betty McCune, Markle, IN.   Three brothers; Billy, Jerry and Max Bechtold and one sister; Opal McColley are deceased.

Richard was employed with Bippus Farm Bureau Co-Op for 45 years.  He was a graduate of Chester High School class of 1954 and served his country in the U.S. Army.   Richard was a avid woodworker and enjoyed hours tinkering in his shop.
