Rev. Durwood "Derby" Shepherd

Rev. Durwood "Derby" Shepherd, 79, North Manchester, IN went home to be with his Heavenly Father on September 17, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born at Floyd County, KY on September 16, 1932 to Lonnie & Savage (Shepherd) Shepherd. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia (Denny) Shepherd, who he married August 24, 1951. Also surviving are seven sons, Terry (Caroline) Shepherd, Ft. Wayne, IN; Larry (Bonnie) Shepherd, North Manchester, IN; Jerry (Teresa) Shepherd, Lafayette, IN; Perry (Robin) Shepherd, North Manchester, IN; Jeff (Tracey) Shepherd, Orlando, FL; Ed (Charlotte) Shepherd, North Manchester, IN; David (Teri Scott) Shepherd, Ft. Wayne, IN. Two daughters, Kim (Tim) Lynn, Ft. Wayne, IN and Nikki (Shawn) Johnson, North Manchester, IN. A sister, Jean Gamble, North Manchester, IN. Twenty five grandchildren and twenty eight great-grandchildren. Derby owned his own auto body repair business in North Manchester, IN and was a minister with the Pentecostal Church of God for 42 years. He was presently a Sunday School teacher and member of the Wabash Chapel Church of God, Wabash, IN. He was a 1950 graduate of Sidney High School and a United States Air Force veteran. Services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Sweetwater Assembly of God Church, 2551 State Road 114 East, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, September 20, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the church. Rev. Tom Branham will officiate and burial will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens, Ft. Wayne, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Rev. Durwood Shepherd, memorial contributions may be made to Wabash Chapel Church of God - Mission Projects, 1463 Middle Street, Wabash, IN 46992 or Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
