Ralph E. McFarland, 92, North Manchester, IN died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 in his residence. He was born at Wabash County, Indiana on March 15, 1918 to H.L. & Lillie (Glad) McFarland. On September 25, 1941 he married Anne Adele "Ann" Rager. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Danny Joe McFarland, North Manchester, IN; Ted J. (Terri) McFarland, Elkhart, IN. Three daughters, Cheryl A. (C.W.) Gohman, North Manchester, IN; Jan L. (McFarland) Chalfant, North Webster, IN; Patti (McFarland) Prasad, Los Angeles, CA. Seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, Howard Robert McFarland, Dayton, OH also survive. One sister is deceased. Ralph was a 1936 graduate of Chester High School, a member of the American Legion Post # 286 and Deming Lodge # 88 F & AM, both at North Manchester. A professional truck driver for Brada Miller, Danville, IL and later for Schuler Farms and Manchester Tool & Die, both of North Manchester. Later, he was a driver for DeHaven Chevrolet, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was a Army-Air Force veteran of WW II where he served as a sergeant and an airplane inspector in England. He was a member of the former West Main Street Worship Center, North Manchester. Ralph loved to play baseball and was an avid sports fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010 in the Blocher Room of the North Manchester Public Library, 405 N. Market Street, North Manchester, IN. The family will receive friends following the service. Pastor Barry Drudge will officiate.
