R. Lowell Yohe

R. Lowell Yohe, 89, North Manchester, IN died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born April 2, 1924 the oldest of one brother and one sister to Herbert & Frances (Kress) Yohe. In 1942 he graduated from high school in Monroe Township Ohio and went to Ohio State for 1 1/2 years before being drafted in WWII. He was in Civilian Public Service for 3 years. On June 8, 1947 he married Martha L. Stinebaugh. His parents were farmers and that is what Lowell always wanted to do, and did. He had a passion for farming and owned and operated a farm in the South Whitley area for 34 years. Lowell established a commodities business in Warsaw and eventually they moved to Warsaw and went into that business full time until his retirement. He went on a People to People tour with other farmers to Europe where they were in 7 different countries. Lowell was on the board of Black Lake Lodge, a farm where boys with special problems came from Fort Wayne to learn about living together and farming. He received special recognition for 22 years in that work. He and Martha moved to Timbercrest in 1993. He enjoyed spending time at his computer and watching baseball and basketball on TV. He was a Ham Radio Operator since 1962, a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, IN and a member of American Radio Relay League. He is survived by his wife, Martha Yohe, North Manchester, IN; two sons, Richard Yohe, South Whitley, IN and Pat (Faye) Yohe, Ottawa, OH; one daughter, Rebecca Brock, Fort Wayne, IN; one sister Yula Jean Hillis, Arcanum, OH; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. One brother, Wendel Yohe and 3 grandchildren are deceased. Services will be Sunday February 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN. Family and friends may call one hour prior services. Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate. Burial will be at Manchester Church of the Brethren Memorial Garden, North Manchester, IN.
