Pauline Mae Carter, 85, North Manchester, IN died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN. She was born at Wabash County, Indiana on January 12, 1929 to J. Calvin & Bessie (Kendall) Hippensteel. On August 4, 1950, she married Kenneth B. Carter. He survives. Also surviving are four sons, Mike Carter, Montpelier, IN; Tim (Julie) Carter, Rod (Gloria) Carter and Greg (Lisa) Carter, all of North Manchester, IN. Sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. One brother, J. Stewart Hippensteel, Warsaw, IN and two sisters, Mabel Coble, Ft. Wayne, IN and Edith (Cecil) Jenkins, Sidney, IN. One sister is deceased. One grandson, Dylan Carter died in 1993 and a daughter-in-law, Donna Carter died in 2012. Pauline graduated from Chester High School in 1949 and worked at Heckman Bindery for many years. She also worked at Timbercrest Retirement Community , North Manchester for 17 years. She was always a good neighbor and willing to help others. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Wabash, IN and attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester. Services will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Thursday, November 7, from 2-4 & 5-8 p.m. at McKee Mortuary. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN.
