Nancy Fern (Chafin) Bryant

Nancy Fern Bryant, 70, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2020 at her home. Nancy was the last surviving child of Willis and Maude (Estep) Chafin. She was born on July 3, 1949 in Logan County, West Virginia.

Nancy married Hugh Bryant Sr. on August 5, 1965. During their fifty-four years of marriage they had one son, Hugh Bryant Jr. Nancy worked at Peabody Retirement Community for twenty years as a Resident Manager and was a member of North Manchester Church of the Nazarene. Faith was important to Nancy, and she loved her church family. She was a sweet woman who took care of others before herself, a second mother to many and a loving wife. She enjoyed cooking for people and being around family. Her friends became family, and strangers became friends. Nancy was the glue that kept her family together.

The loving memory of Nancy Bryant will be cherished by her husband, Hugh Bryant Sr., North Manchester; Hugh Bryant Jr’s best friend who was like a son to Nancy, Tim Easterday, Wabash; sisters-in-law, Edith Collins, Virgie Chafin, Rose (Ed) Cox, and Joanne (Ralph) Oliver; and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Hugh Bryant Jr. who passed away on December 23, 2014; brothers, Donald and Billy Ed Chafin; sisters, Maudie Bragg, Edith Browning, Dorothy Funk, Joyette Bragg, and Georgia Walsh.

Family and friends may call Friday, February 28, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Peabody Chapel, 400 West 7th Street, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling. Pastor Robert Gargiulo will officiate. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana.
