Myrl Edwin Frantz

Myrl Edwin Frantz, 86, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away at 5:16 a.m. on April 7, 2020 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester. One of three children, Myrl was born February 28, 1934 in Ripon, California to Clarence and Ida (Beachler) Frantz.

After graduating from high school, Myrl joined the United States Air Force in 1955. He was a proud member of the Air Force until 1959 when he transferred to the Reserves and served from 1959 to 1963. After leaving the military, Myrl was employed by the North Manchester Post Office for thirty-three years before retiring in 1992. After retirement, Myrl worked for North Manchester Do It Best Hardware from 1992 to 2019 when his health began to fail.

On April 12, 1958 Myrl married his best friend and love of his life, Joyce Yoder. It was one of the happiest days of his life. Myrl and Joyce were wed for nearly sixty-two years and built a beautiful life together with two children. At the center of their relationship was Jesus Christ. Myrl was a spiritually strong man and was a member of the First Brethren Church, North Manchester. He taught Sunday School for many years and served on the Diaconate Leadership Committee. Myrl was also a member of Oaklawn Cemetery Board of Directors since 1987. Myrl was an amazing father and grandfather who put the needs of others before himself. He was helpful to all who needed it and was a rock for his family.

The loving memory of Myrl Edwin Frantz will be forever cherished by his wife, Joyce Frantz, North Manchester; son, Wade Allen (Stephanie) Frantz, Warsaw; daughter, Wanda Allen (Thomas) Yankey, Ypsilanti, Michigan; brother, Harvey Frantz, Modesto, California; sister, Marleah (Marlin) Flora, Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Myrl was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandchild, Colbee Frantz.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana. Pastor Kurt Stout will officiate.
