Merle V. Alderfer, 84, Laketon, IN died at 8:38 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in his residence. He was born March 6, 1928 in Richland Center, IN to Carl M. and Ruth J. (Ault) Alderfer. On October 18, 1950 he married Julia M. Coleman. He was a retired asphalt road construction worker retiring from Rieth-Riley Asphalt, Fort Wayne, IN, He was a member of Operator Engineer Union #103, Fort Wayne, IN, a life member and past Governor of Moose Lodge #1518, North Manchester, IN and life member of Tippecanoe Fellowship #96. He is survived by his wife, Julia Alderfer, Laketon, IN; one son, Jack L. Alderfer, Servia, IN; four daughters, Pamela Bowman, North Manchester, IN, Brenda (Larry) Weaver, Goshen, IN, Tammie (Robert) Funk, Akron, IN and Susie Elliott, Syracuse, IN; two brothers, Howard Alderfer, Warsaw, IN and Wayne Alderfer, Cromwell, IN; Three sisters, Mary Bruce, Mentone, IN, Mrs. Bill (Ruby) Thompson, Mentone, IN and Mrs. Don (Phyllis) Shuster, Laporte, IN; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Five brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild are deceased. Friends and family may call Friday, April 27, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate.
