Max Lee Cordill

July 28, 1937 — August 21, 2021

North Manchester

Max Lee Cordill, 84, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away August 21, 2021 at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Centre, Wabash, Indiana. Born in South Whitley, Indiana on July 28, 1937, Max was the son of the late James D. and Ruth L. (Stafford) Cordill.

On November 7, 1986, Max’s life changed for the better when he married Pauline Lester. Both brought a family into the marriage, but their separate families became one. Knowing the importance of providing for his family, Max worked to support them at United Technologies Corporation for many years, working his way to supervisor. In the early 1990s Max was forced to retire after open heart surgery.

A smart and simple man, Max loved time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a teacher to his grandchildren, helping them learn the alphabet, to tell time, accounting, and many other life lessons. Max was more than just a great father and grandfather; he was a great husband as well. He ensured that Pauline was always taken care of, and the two relished in their time gardening together and spending time with one another.

The loving memory of Max Lee Cordill will be forever cherished by his wife, Pauline Cordill, North Manchester; daughters, Laura Conley, Huntington and Sheryl Jackson, North Manchester; sons, Kelly Ratliff, North Manchester, Lee (Gina) Ratliff, Warsaw, and Brian Ratliff, North Manchester; brother, Charles Cordill, Huntington; sisters, Judy Stouder, Florida, Susann Eakright, North Manchester, and Sereta (Danny) Jasper, Florida; eighteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Max was preceded in death by his parents, James D. and Ruth L. Cordill; daughter, Jana Jean Cordill; son-in-law, Jack Conley; and brothers, James W. Cordill, Donald E. Cordill, and infant Elmer L. Cordill.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at South Whitley Cemetery, 7745 State Road 14, South Whitley, Indiana.
