Mary Elizabeth Young, 93, North Manchester, IN died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center. She was born March 11, 1918 in Muncie, Indiana to J.O. & Lofa (Eikenberry) Winger. On October 31, 1943 she married Rev. Lester A. Young. He died July 30, 2003. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Donna Marie) Sorensen, Warsaw, IN. Six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Dorotha Fry-Mason, North Manchester, IN. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Rogers who died in 2009 and a sister. Mary Elizabeth graduated from Central High School in 1936 and earned her B.A. degree from Manchester College in 1940. She taught English, Latin, Bible and was a play coach for the Grass Creek, North Manchester, and North Webster schools. She later retired from the business office of Warsaw Community Schools. She was a member of the North Winona Church of the Brethren and active in Church Women United. Services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call two hours prior to the service at the Timbercrest Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester. Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.
