Mary Belle Music, born on June 20, 1937, in Amherstdale, West Virginia, to John Henry and Mamie (Taylor) Barrett, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family. She was a remarkable woman whose spirit touched the lives of many.
On February 20, 1971, Mary married Ben Frank Music, who was a beloved partner and friend. Together, they raised a loving family, welcoming four children into their lives and creating countless cherished memories. The bond that Mary and Ben shared was a once in a lifetime love, and her world changed when he passed away on August 22, 2018. Through her grief, Mary exemplified resilience and continued to be a source of strength for her family.
Mary dedicated thirty-four years to her career at Singer Controls in North Manchester, where she demonstrated unwavering commitment and exceptional work ethic until her retirement in 1999. Her contributions to the workplace were characterized by her kindness and dedication, traits that showed in all aspects of her life.
Known as a loving woman who never turned anyone away, she offered compassion even in the face of adversity. Mary had an immense capacity for forgiveness and an enduring desire to help those around her. Her warmth and kindness endeared her to many, earning her a place in the hearts of everyone around her who affectionately regarded her as “everyone's grandma.”
In her spare time, Mary enjoyed the thrill of playing slots, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. She took great pride not only in her own achievements and origins but also in the accomplishments of her family and friends. Her pride reflected her deep love for her roots and the connections she cultivated throughout her life.
The loving memory of Mary Music will be forever cherished by her sons, Don (Tracy Eubank) Skeens, North Manchester and Jack (Carrie) Skeens, Valparaiso; daughters, Connie (Mark) Logsdon and Kathy (Oscar) Dingess, both of North Manchester; brother, John (Marlena) Barrett, Sandy Beach; twenty grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Frank Music; brothers, Harry Barrett Sr. and Eddie Barrett; sister, Beulah Hurley; and great-granddaughter, Makeila Dingess.
Family and friends may call Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
The family of Mary Belle Music has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements.
