Mary F. Baker, 93, Phoenix, Arizona passed away February 3, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona. Mary was born on January 13, 1923 in Wabash, Indiana to Frank McClure and Winfred (Furrow). She graduated from Wabash High School and Manchester College, where she received a degree in Education. She later received a Master's Degree from St. Francis University, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mary married Nathan D. Baker on February 5, 1944, who later passed away on April 24, 1989. Nathan and Mary moved to Toledo, Ohio where she and Nathan enrolled in the PH.D program at the University of Toledo. Mary taught a variety of subjects in several schools in Wabash County before moving to Ohio, where she taught in the Evergreen School System. She specialized in teaching remedial reading, helping children with behavioral problems and learning disabilities. Upon retirement in 1990, she moved to Wickenburg, Arizona where she continued teaching children with learning disabilities and being a child advocate and tutor. Mary is survived by two sons Jeff E. (Linda) Baker, Whitehouse, Ohio and Gregg P. Baker, Wickenburg, Arizona; one daughter Susan M. Baker, Wickenburg, Arizona; one step-granddaughter April Toupin, Phoenix, Arizona; and three step great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be October 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 N. Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate.
