Martha Louise Underwood, 80, North Manchester, IN passed away Wednesday, March 23.2016 at 6:20 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN. Martha was born to Joseph A. and Pearl B (Franklin) Dobson on November 26, 1935 in Holton, IN. Both deceased. On January 6, 1954, Martha married Henry R. (Hank) Underwood. Hank passed away on February 28, 1988. Martha was a CNA and a QMA at Peabody Retirement Community for 36 years. She also was a Teachers Aid at Manchester Elementary School for 17 years. Martha retired in January 2007. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post 286 Ladies Auxiliary in Wabash. Her husband was a veteran of the U.S. Army and took part in the Normandy Invasion, a fact that Martha was very proud of. Martha was also a member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church. She dedicated her life to helping people of all walks of life. Martha is survived by one daughter, Debra (Robert) Charles, North Manchester, IN; one sister, Mary Ann Hoff, Bossier City, LA; six grandchildren, Katrina (Jeff) Charles, Johnathan Ryan (Heather) Underwood, Robert T. (Zoey) Brungart-Charles, Trisha M. Charles, Timothy A. Charles, and Thomas H. Charles; eight great-grandchildren, Raven K. Riggs, Zylar Saloga, Braxton Brungart, Saige Saloga, Annabelle R. Underwood, Landyn Smith, Carson Seichter, and Hadleigh Brungart; and two special friends, Donna Baston, North Manchester, IN and Patricia Phenis, Marion, IN. Friends and family may call on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services will be held on April 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. There will be calling one hour prior to the start of the service. Pastor Mark Eastway will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, CR 300 E and CR 1000 N Servia, IN.
