Marjorie Stinebaugh Miller, 91, North Manchester, IN died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center. She entered her third birth of eternal life surrounded by her husband, Vernon Miller, daughters and pastor. Marjorie was born April 11, 1919 in Flora, Indiana, daughter of Virgil & Audra (Humberd) Stinebaugh. She graduated from Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, IN, where she was active in choir and orchestra playing the cello. She graduated from Manchester College in 1941, where she met and later married Vernon Miller. They were married on May 31, 1942, and recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard, and twins who died in infancy. She is survived by her husband, Vernon, and children Jim (Mary) Miller, Bridgewater, VA; Judi (Mike) Brown, North Manchester, IN; David (Katie) Miller, Decatur, IL and Delia (Tim) Waits, Goshen, IN. Nine grandchildren, Angela (Gerhard) Hoffmann, Pfullendorf, Germany; Greg (Krista) Miller, Grottoes, VA; Dustin (Heidi) Brown, Rockville, MD; Ambrosia Brown, Moab, UT; Heather Brown, South Whitley, IN; DJ Brown, North Manchester, IN; Rob (Jeannesse) Miller, Seattle, WA; Carrie Waits and Emily Waits, both of Goshen, IN. Seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Katelyn, Corbin and Brennan, Noah and Emery and June. Marjorie's greatest joy in life was her family, her love of music and arts, and the churches where Vernon was pastor. They lived in Ohio, Indiana, California, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Marjorie was devoted to her family and raising their children and grandchildren. She was a gracious hostess who enjoyed setting a full table to share with family, guests and friends. She kept extensive diaries for seventy years and created scrapbooks of all their many trips. With a house full of young children, Marjorie began a weekly newsletter "The Winged Messenger" for the women of the Fresno Church which encouraged their faith, supported them in family and community life, and shared from a rich heritage of Christian Spiritual leaders, poets and scripture. For several years, Marjorie returned to her love of teaching and taught high school English and Home Economics at Concord High School, Elkhart, IN. She also enjoyed the opportunity and training as a docent with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. For twenty years, they retired to a family farm near South Whitley, Indiana. In 2002, they moved to Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, Indiana. Services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Manchester Church of the Brethren, 1306 N. Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services at the church. Pastor Kurt Borgmann will officiate and burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester, IN. Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.
