M. Marceline Russell, 94, Pierceton, Indiana passed away at 5:59 p.m. Friday September 29, 2017. She was born on the third generation Michael homestead near Sidney, Indiana on August 2, 1923 to Roy F. & Clara M. (Metzger) Michael.
As a young girl she attended school at Sidney and her family attended the former Plunge Creek Chapel Church southeast of Sidney. She would graduate from Sidney High School in 1941. The following year she married Delbert L. Grindle on September 12, 1942. Making their home in Sidney, they would welcome the birth of their daughter Letticia Diane in 1943. Marceline would later go to work at the Sidney High School performing the custodial duties with the late Charlie Grisso. When the high school consolidated into Whitko, she went to work at Heckman Bindrey in North Manchester where she retired after 30 years of service. She continued to stay active being a custodian for Sprint Co. in Warsaw until the age of 88.
After the sudden passing of her first husband on November 29, 1962, she married Roy M. Russell on September 24, 1965 and moved to Pierceton where she was a member of the Pierceton United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death April 1, 1996. Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Diane Archer, three brothers, Delbert R. "Dimer" Michael, Donald E. Michael and Harold J. Michael. Three sisters, Mildred M. McKee, Opal Michael and Marjorie Michael and a step son. Marceline is survived by two grandsons, Tom (Sonia Sturgill) Kinch Warsaw, IN and Todd Kinch, Pierceton, IN. Two grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, seventeen step great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, sixteen step great-great grandchildren and one step great-great-great grandchild. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 12 noon in McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at McKee Mortuary. Pastor Holly White of the Pierceton United Methodist Church will officiate the service. She will be laid to rest beside her first husband in Hillcrest Cememtery, Pierceton, IN.
