Leona K. Acord

Leona K. Acord, 65, North Manchester, IN passed away at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at her residence. She was born at Rochester, IN on April 29, 1948 to Orville E. & Mae E. (Niccum) Metzger. In 1966 she graduated from Manchester High School and achieved certification for dental hygiene. She was a homemaker and dental assitant in Fort Wayne, Michigan and Georgia. Leona was known for her great cooking and being an excellent baker. She was a wonderful mom and grandma. On September 15, 1967 she married Ernest Acord. He survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Amy (Jeff) Acord Hannah, Atlanta, GA; Elizabeth Marie (Andy) Culbertson, Silver Lake, IN; Angela Belin Thurston, Milford, MI; Emily (Scott) Acord Robbins, Poolesville, MD. Five grandchildren, Matthew Hannah, Michael Hannah, Olivia Robbins, Owen Robbins and Lillian Robbins. Three brothers, Leon (Agatha) Metzger, North Manchester, IN; Max (Irene) Metzger, Silver Lake, IN; Wilmer (Janet) Metzger, North Manchester, IN. a sister, Esther (Billie) Blocher, North Manchester, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Saturday, September 14 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary. Larry Cripe will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery, North Manchester, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Leona K.
