Lawrence L. Bonewitz, 88, North Manchester, IN died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Parkview Huntington Hospital, Huntington, IN. He was born at North Manchester, IN on April 24, 1923 to Ira & Esther (Penn) Bonewitz. On April 7, 1946 he married Betty Steele. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Ron (Pattie) Bonewitz, Randy (Todd Dellinger) Bonewitz, both of North Manchester, IN. Three daughters, Nancy Bonewitz, North Manchester, IN; Mrs. Dean (Paula) Damron, Rochester, IN; Mrs. Dan (Linda) Strombeck, North Webster, IN. Nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael Bonewitz, one brother, two sisters and one step grandson. Lawrence was a US Army veteran of World War II serving from 1943-1945 and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Wabash, IN. He enjoyed playing the organ, gardening and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. IN. Friends and family may call on Wednesday March 28 from 12 noon - 4:00 p.m. at McKee's. Elder David Myers will officiate and burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.
