Lavonne L. Spiece

Lavonne L. Spiece, 86, North Manchester, IN died Tuesday, August 2, 2011at 4:10 a.m. in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born September 22, 1924 in Fort Wayne, IN to Cecil L. & Gertrude (Miller) Merrick. She was a 1942 graduate of Roann High School, Roann, IN. On November 18, 1944 she married Walter "Whitey" Spiece Jr. He died on October 7, 1987. She worked at Honeywell in Wabash, IN and later was a Pharmacist Assistant at Key Pharmacy and Don's Pharmacy both in North Manchester, IN. Lavonne was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting and knitting and was an avid Manchester Squires fan. She is survived by one brother, Richard (Dorothy) Merrick, Wabash, IN; one brother-in-law, David Underhill, Fort Wayne, IN; four nieces and nephews, Rod (Robin) Merrick, Wabash, IN, Kelly (Greg) Schenkel, Wabash, IN, Debi (Steve) Dice, Fort Wayne, IN and Janice (Rick) Smith, Muncie, IN. One son and one sister are deceased. Services will be Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.
