LaVeta M. Immel, 91, North Manchester, IN died at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born at New Paris, Indiana on February 5, 1919 to Everett E. & Mayme (Smoker) Miller. On December 14, 1940 she married Woodrow A. Immel. He died November 21, 2003. Surviving are two sons, Charles A. (Nancy) Immel, New Paris, IN and Keith (Linda) Immel, North Manchester, IN. One daughter, Carolyn (Charles) Bame, Flagstaff, AZ. One brother, Rex W. Miller, New Paris, IN Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her parents and one sister, Jeanette (DeBoer-Hysell) Oakes are deceased. Mrs. Immel was a pastor's wife, serving with her husband for more than 40 years in the ministry at Brethren Churches in North Manchester, IN ; Milford, IN and New Paris, IN. She was a musician who used her talents in service to the Lord as a pianist, organist, and choir director. She assisted her husband in the ministry as church secretary, and was employed for 30 years at the North Manchester News-Journal as a typesetter. She graduated from New Paris High School in 1937, during which time she was national champion on the marimba. She also attended Goshen College. She was a member of the First Brethren Church, North Manchester, IN, Women's Missionary Society and was past vice-president of the National Women's Missionary Society. She was a former member and accompanist for the Wabash County Choral Club. Services will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from First Brethren Church, 407 N. Sycamore St., North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Friday, April 2 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the church, and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Committal services and burial will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. in New Paris Cemetery, New Paris, IN. Pastor Kurt Stout will officiate.
