Kim William Butler, born on December 13, 1954, to Jack William and Thelma Jean (Jagger) Butler, in Rochester, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly in North Manchester, Indiana, on November 1, 2024, at the age of 69.
A dedicated professional, Kim devoted thirty-nine years of his career to Laketon Refining Corporation, from where he retired in 2019. His leadership and commitment were exemplified through his role as the head of the United Steelworkers for many years, where he worked tirelessly.
Kim's educational journey led him to graduate from Manchester High School in 1973, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with experiences. On October 5, 1974, Kim married Carol Jo Machmer. The two spent forty-nine years together and were blessed with two children before she passed away on October 28, 2023.
Outside of work, Kim was known for storytelling, being a great host and making everyone feel welcome. In his younger years, he found joy in golfing and taking canoe trips with friends and family. Kim was a member of Moose Lodge 1518 in North Manchester and the Sons of the American Legion Sunset Post 402.
The loving memory of Kim Butler will be forever cherished by his mother, Thelma Butler, Laketon; son, Shawn (Kelly Keeling) Butler, North Manchester; daughter, Tara Butler, Austin, Texas; brother, Kevin (Phyllis) Butler, North Manchester; sister, Rhonda Hagg, Silver Lake; and granddaughter, Paris Butler. Kim was preceded in death by his father, Jack Butler; and brother-in-law, Mike Hagg.
Family and friends may call Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. A memorial service will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating.
