Kenneth Eugene "Kenny" Hensley

August 30, 1960 — May 14, 2023

North Manchester

Kenneth Eugene “Kenny” Hensley, 62, North Manchester, passed away at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne on May 14, 2023. The son of William R. and Evelyn M. (Barton) Hensley, Kenny was born in Wabash on August 30, 1960.

Before graduating from Manchester High School in 1979, Kenny took welding classes at Heartland. Welding was a skill he utilized until a few months ago when he began working for the HF Group (formerly Heckman Bindery) in North Manchester. Kenny was a member of the North Manchester Moose Lodge 1518 and American Legion Post 286 (Sons of the American Legion), where he loved telling stories, catching up with friends, and playing pool. He also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Kenny was a hard worker who never knew a stranger. He often said, “I don’t know you, but I will." He was always upbeat, kind, and caring and had a selfless personality with a willingness to help anyone. Lovable to all, Kenny gave the best hugs and had a great sense of humor. He could often be found with a smile on his face.

The loving memory of Kenneth Eugene “Kenny” Hensley will be forever cherished by his son, Greg (Brandy) Hensley, Rochester; companion of sixteen years, Rona "Amy" Moore, North Manchester; brothers, William R. Hensley Jr., Paul A. Hensley, both of North Manchester, and Ronald (Angie) Hensley, North Webster; sister, Pam Simmons, North Manchester; four grandchildren, Alexia Hensley, Tristan Hensley, Joselynn Hensley, and Nathaniel Beck; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rhonda Kay Allen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the North Manchester Moose Lodge 1518, 207 East Main Street, North Manchester, with Pastor Jacob Good officiating. A gathering to celebrate Kenny’s life will be held for family and friends to share stories and remember the good times at 1:30 at the Moose. All are invited to stay for the Cornhole Tournament, which was one of Kenny’s favorite pastimes, at 5:00 p.m.
