Karen Sue (Secor) Fawcett

Karen Sue Fawcett, 80, North Manchester, passed away January 10, 2024, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester. Born July 4, 1943, in Fulton County, Karen was the daughter of the late Daniel and Irene (Bowen) Secor.

Karen graduated from Akron High School in 1961 and from Manchester College in 1968 with a bachelor degree in home economics. She married Larry L Fawcett two weeks after her twenty-first birthday on July 18, 1964. The two built a beautiful life together for the next fifty-two years and added to their family with the arrivals of daughters, Terri, Cheryl, and Deanna. Karen worked at Peabody Retirement Community as a resident assistant for fifteen years and for Heckman Bindery and Wabash County Department of Social Services for many years.

Karen enjoyed going out to eat and shopping, delighting in the challenge of finding the best bargain, especially at CVS. She was a kind and compassionate yet strict, as she only wanted the best for her daughters. She instilled in them values of hard work and a strong work ethic. Karen also taught her family about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Manchester. She was always there for her family and others when they needed help.

The loving memory of Karen Sue Fawcett will be forever cherished by her daughters, Terri Cook, Fort Wayne, and Deanna (Craig) Wampler, North Manchester; grandchildren, Halie Wampler, Abbie Wampler, and Kerra Marks; great-grandchildren, Braylynn and Chloe Marks; and sister, Janice (Bill) Brown, Zionsville. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Fawcett; and daughter, Cheryl Fawcett.

Family and friends may call Monday, January 15, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, at a later date.
