Josophine Koontz

Josophine Koontz, 79, North Manchester, formerly of Sidney, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2022, at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. Born in Kosciusko County, Indiana, on March 7, 1943, Josophine was the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Vielhauer) Delmuth.

Josophine graduated from Roanoke High School in 1962, and on February 18, 1972, she wed the love of her life, Kenneth “Kenny” Milton Koontz. The two were married two days shy of forty-eight years before Kenny passed away on February 16, 2020. Josophine worked full time as a mother and put her family’s needs first. She always found a way to provide her children with everything they wanted and needed. Josophine enjoyed her time spent at the lake with family and friends and liked to relax, read, and clean her homes. Josophine was a woman of strength and perseverance.

Josophine kept her faith in the Lord throughout her life. She attended Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in North Manchester, where she was a member. She found strength, hope, and peace in praying the Rosary and attending Mass.

The loving memory of Josophine Koontz will be forever cherished by her sons, Forrester (Debra) Asher, South Whitley and Troy (Deana) Asher, Huntington; daughter, Lori (Larry) Reust, Huntington; brother, Jerry Williamson, Warsaw; sisters, Mary (Steve) Sloane, Akron, Sue (Sam) Manning, Angola, and Margaret Oaks, Mountainburg, Arkansas; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Josophine was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dorothy Delmuth; husband, Kenny Koontz; son, Stephen W. Koontz; five brothers and three sisters.

Family and friends may call Friday, August 5, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 1203 State Road 114 East, North Manchester. A Rosary service will begin at 11:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00 with Father Dennis DiBenedetto officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana.
