John Dwayne Nichols, 60, Fort Wayne, formerly of North Manchester, tragically passed away on August 4, 2024. The son of George and Judith A. (Royer) Nichols and grandson of Dwayne and Velma (Heeter) Royer, John was born on May 10, 1964 in Huntington, Indiana.
John's journey began at Manchester High School, and he later pursued his passion by earning an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute. He dedicated his career to the field, working diligently at Easton/Singer/Controls and later at Sabert in Fort Wayne, where he climbed the ranks to become a respected Senior PM Maintenance Technician.
A man of many passions, John found joy in all aspects of life. Whether it was snowmobiling in the winter, cruising on his motorcycle in the summer, or spending time outdoors mushroom hunting, deer hunting, and fishing, he embraced each moment with enthusiasm. John's sense of humor, determination, and wisdom left a lasting impact on all who knew him, and his thoughtful nature always shone through, especially when he made holidays extra special for those around him.
The loving memory of John Nichols will be forever cherished by his daughter, Jada (William) Rhodes, South Whitley; brother, Jerry (Yvonne) Nichols, Jasper; grandchildren, Bryce, Carter, Lawson, Lila, and Lucca Rhodes; and nephews, Justin, Evan, and Ethan Nichols. John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Judith A. (Royer) Nichols; grandparents, Dwayne and Velma Royer; and his son, Corey Nichols.
A celebration to honor John’s life will be held at his graveside service on August 24, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana.
In his final act of generosity, John's organ donation gifted new life to three individuals.
The family of John Nichols has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements.
