Joe Lee

Joe Lee, 65, passed away in the comfort of his home and loved ones in Vista on Monday, March 8, 2010. He was born April 10, 1944, in North Manchester, Indiana, son of Oscar and Lorena (Steele) Lee. He was owner of Lee's Iron and Metal which has been established for 51 year. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Lee and mother, Lorena Lee. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara Lee of 15 years; five children and eight grandchildren. He was the third of five brothers, Jim and wife, Kay Lee, Jack and wife, Terry Lee, Jeff and wife, Joyce Lee and Jerry and wife, Patti Lee, all of Vista; and numerous nephews and nieces. Also surviving are an Aunt, Mrs. Lewis (LaDonna) Gale, North Manchester, IN and and Uncle, Robert Steele, North Manchester, IN. He served as a member of the Vista Optimist Club for many years and a member of the Escondido Moose. Joe was a professional race car driver for AA Dragsters from 1964 - 1982 and AA Funny Car from 1968 - 1982. He was a master mechanic and a man of many talents. He enjoyed Nascar/NHRA, golf, trains and spending time with family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Thursday, March 18th.
