Jesse Davis Jr

Jesse "Jess" Davis Jr., 87, Liberty Mills, IN died at 5:11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born at Riceville, KY on August 26, 1922 to Jesse & Priscilla (Blair) Davis Sr. On March 16, 1944 he married Bernice V. Jennings. She died June 12, 2008. A retired brick mason, Jess enjoyed gardening and hunting. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and member of the American Legion Post # 286, North Manchester and the First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool, IN. Surviving are two sons, Harold Davis, Liberty Mills, IN and Kenneth Davis, Lynden, WA. Three daughters, Linda (Carl) Garringer, New Haven, IN; Retta (Jay) Melcher, Ft. Wayne, IN; Alice (Bill) Zimmerle, Elkhart, IN. Twenty four grandchildren and forty three great-grandchildren. One granddaughter is deceased. Special care giving friends, Annette & John Meggison and family, Liberty Mills, IN and Jim & Sue Bruner, Liberty Mills, IN. Services will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, May 18 from 4 - 8 p.m . Pastor Terry Bradford will officiate and burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, North Manchester.
