Jerry M. Garris

Jerry M. Garris, 77, Silver Lake, IN passed away at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. He was born at Anderson, Indiana on November 16, 1936 to Jesse H. & Edna N. (Robbins) Garris. They are deceased. He graduated from Claypool High School in 1955 and served in the United States Marine Corp., was a member of Free United Baptist Church, Sidney, IN and the Masonic Lodge, Milford, IN. Jerry was retired from General Tire, Wabash, IN where he worked for 33 years. On June 11, 1960 he married Ilant Howard. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Angie Garris, Silver Lake, IN. Ten grandchildren, Trevor Garris, Tanner Garris, Jessie Garris, Heidi Ulrey, Don Chilcutt, Joey Garris, Val Garris, Kasey Chilcutt, Haley Chilcutt and Holly Garris. Jerry was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Lee Garris in 2006, and Tim Garris in 2010, a brother and a sister. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, fishing and being with people. Services will be held Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Free United Baptist Church, State Road 13 (1 1/2 miles north of Sidney, IN). Friends and family may call at the church on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Pastor Ward Etsie Allen will officiate and burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN.
