James L. Stewart, 83, North Manchester, IN died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. He was born November 16, 1931 in Laketon, IN to Russell & Lucille (Hill) Stewart. He graduated from Central High School, North Manchester, IN in 1949. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1952, serving until 1956. He was stationed in Korea, Japan and Okinawa during his tours of duty where he proudly served his country. On May 3, 1958 he married Barbara J. Coldren in North Manchester, IN. He was employed with Warner Corporation where he retired in 1991 as General Manager. He was then employed for 2 years with Montel Livestock Equipment, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion Post #286, a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1418, North Manchester, IN and a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 286, Wabash, IN. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Stewart, North Manchester, IN; one son, Stephen J. Stewart and his wife, Nancy Stewart, of Marco Island, FL; one brother, Robert D. Stewart, North Manchester, IN; and many nieces and nephews. One half brother, Louis Stewart of Chicago, IL is deceased. Family and friends may call Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to service on Friday. Services will be Friday, December 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Richard Tracy, Pastor Ron Burns and Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of James L. Stewart, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion/Halderman Park Memorial, 215 East Main Street, North Manchester, IN 46962.
