James Lee Garman

James Lee Garman, 73, North Manchester, IN died at 1:35 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015 at home, surrounded by his wife and four daughters. He was born October 7, 1941 in Warsaw, IN to Wayne R. and Mary (Piper) Garman. He graduated from Chester High School in 1959 and attended Manchester University for 2 years. After college, Jim enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served locally in the Midwest. On August 1, 1981 he married Eva "Evelyn" Bradford. Jim attended First Brethren Church, North Manchester, IN. He served as a Commander of the Eel River American Legion Post #286, and was a member of the North Manchester Historical Society. He was an active board member on the North Manchester Zoning Board, and North Manchester Planning Commission for 30+ years. He was an avid model train enthusiast and enjoyed music, world travel, photography and history. He was a very God loving man. Jim was able to retire early, dedicating his life to his wife, family and his beloved home. Jim designed the gazebo that resides in Warvel Park, North Manchester. He was an Architectural Draftsman at Gerald Guy & Associates, Marion, IN for 37 years. He is survived by his wife, Eva "Evelyn" Garman, North Manchester, IN; one son, Nico Figueroa, Denver, CO; four daughters, Angie (Craig) Peyton, Louisville, KY, Christine (David) Tench, Atlanta, GA, Jodi (Dennis) Egner, North Manchester, IN and Misti (Tom) Collett, Rockaway, NJ; grandchildren, Kalie, Kylie, Shayna, Chance, Jared, McKenna, Brandi, Isaac, Caden, Mary Evaline, Reagan, Erin, Maya and Corey; five great grandchildren. There will be no visitation or services. In lieu of flowers his family asks that donations be made to the North Manchester Historical Society in honor of him: Center for History, PO Box 361, North Manchester, IN 46962.
