J. Michael "Mike" Walters, 70, Haines City, FL formerly of North Manchester, IN died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Lake Wales Medical Center, Lake Wales, FL. He was born at Wabash, Indiana on September 19, 1940 to George & Edna E. (Heeter) Walters Jr. On March 7, 2008 he married Marilyn Rollins. She survives. Also surviving are his mother, Edna E. Landis, North Manchester, IN; three sons, Chris (Janelle) Walters, Craig (Sherry) Walters, and Cary (Laurie) Walters, all of North Manchester, IN. A brother, Todd L. (Jane) Walters, Silver Lake, IN. A brother-in-law, John Fulks, North Manchester, IN. Eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One brother, Michael June Walters died in 1939 and one sister, Mary Ann Fulks, died in 2006. Mike graduated with the first graduating class of Manchester High School in 1958. He was credited with naming the new high school mascot, "The Squire". He atttended International Business College, Ft. Wayne, IN and worked at International Harvester in Ft. Wayne. Later he was manager for the Farm Bureau lumber yard at North Manchester. While living in Florida, Mike was manager for Scotty's lumber yard and worked part time at Walt Disney World's Disney Studio for 10 years. He retired in 2010. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Winter Haven, FL. Services will be held July 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ron Burns will officiate . Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.
