Grover T. Whitaker

Grover T. Whitaker, 76, Pierceton, IN died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born April 19, 1935 in Floyd County, KY to Rev. Reuben & Velia L. (Jenkins) Whitaker Sr. He was employed at Nickel Plate Rail Road, Dalton Foundry, Warsaw, IN and retired in 1998 from Gripco, South Whitley, IN. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool, IN. Grover was an avid coon hunter and enjoyed golfing and listening to and aplaying Southern Gospel Music. He loved being with his dog, "Luke". On April 24, 1982 he married Violet Baldwin. She died November 21, 2000. He then married Bonnie F. Hurd on August 7, 2009. She survives. In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by one daughter, Debra (William F.) Bleeke, Ft. Wayne, IN; two brothers, Paul Whitaker, Florida & Charles Whitaker, Myrtle Beach, SC; four sisters, Bethel Bradford, Margaret Anderson and Hazel Bragg all of Mooresville, NC and Fannie (Smith) Helton, Sidney, IN; one granddaughter, Cassidy (Cory) Sevier, Indianapolis, IN; ten step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one step great grandchild. One son, Richard Whitaker, one granddaughter, four brothers and two sisters are deceased. Family and friends may call Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Monday, February 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, 58 W 700 S, Claypool, IN with calling one hour prior to services. Pastor Terry Bradford will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Grover T.
