Geraldine C. "Gerry" Howard

Geraldine C. "Gerry" Howard, 89, North Manchester, IN died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born February 23, 1921 in Wabash County, IN to Austin & Zelma (Eby) Blickenstaff. She graduated from Chester High School, North Manchester, in 1938. On November 4, 1939 she married C. Eugene Howard. Gerry was a member of North Manchester United Methodist Church. In 1981 she retired from Manchester College as secretary of the Education Department after 15 years of service. For 70 1/2 years, she was a part of a very loving relationship with her husband, Gene. She openly shared her deep love and Christian faith with her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. She is survived by her husband, C. Eugene Howard, North Manchester, IN; two sons, Ted E. (Joselyn) Howard, Delphi, IN & Todd M. (Renee) Howard, Frederick, CO; two daughters, Connie J. (John) Bowman, Leo, IN & Cathie J. (Claude) Markstahler, North Manchester, IN; one daughter-in-law, Linda Howard, Auburn, IN; one sister, Charlotte Carpenter, Missouri; twelve grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin Blickenstaff and Zelma Blickenstaff Smith, one sister, Betty Rose Bunch and two grandchildren. Memorial service will be Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at North Manchester United Methodist Church, 306 E. Second Street, North Manchester, IN. Friends & family may call on Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Pastor David L. Overmyer will officiate. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN.
