Gene C. Metzger

Gene C. Metzger, 79, North Manchester, IN died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, IN. He was born March 12, 1931 in Wabash County, IN to Dorsey E. "Sport" & Georgia (Christman) Metzger. He graduated from Chester High School (North Manchester, IN) class of 1949. On March 20, 1954 he married Helen J. Pyle. Gene was a lineman with Public Service, REMC and retired from General Telephone. He was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, IN, Deming Lodge #88 F & AM and Ivy Chapter #69 order of Eastern Star. He was an avid fisherman and active with his church. He served in the Natinal Guard. He is survived by his wife, Helen Metzger, North Manchester, IN; one son, Dan L. (Regina) Metzger, North Manchester, IN; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Metzger, North Manchester, IN; three grandchildren, Adam (Angie) Metzger, North Manchester, IN, Andrew Metzger, North Manchester, IN and Megan Metzger, North Manchester, IN. One son, Douglas G. Metzger, died in 1996 and one brother, Bill Metzger, is deceased. Services will be Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut Street, North Manchester, IN. Family & friends may call Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate and burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN. For those who wish to honor the memory of Gene C.
