Fanny F. Helton, 85, Columbia City, IN died at 5:01 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Renaissance Village, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born March 17, 1930 in Prestonsburg, KY to Reuben & Lou Velia (Jenkins) Whitaker Sr. On April 18, 1946 she married Smith Helton. She worked at Whitley Products, South Whitley, IN for 23 years and Essex Wire, Columbia City, IN for 10 years. She retired in 1992. She was a founding member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County. She enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques. She loved the time spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Smith Helton, Columbia City, IN; one son, Smith Ray (Teresa) Helton, Lake Villa, IL; one daughter, Velia Francis (Kim) Shoemaker, Columbia City, IN; two brothers, Paul Whitaker, Eljay, GA and Charlie (Trish) Whitaker, Myrtle Beach SC; two sisters, Margaret (Chuck) Anderson, Troutsman, NC and Hazel Overcash, Troutsman, NC; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Five brothers and two sisters are deceased. Family and friends may call Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services Monday, February 29. 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Calling also one hour prior to service on Monday. Pastor Terry Bradford will officiate. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.
