Emogene H. "Jean" Leasure

Emogene H. "Jean" Leasure, 95, North Manchester, IN died at 2:20 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 in Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, IN. She was born June 1, 1919 in Kosciusko County, IN to Emory and Mary (Warner) Hossler. She graduated from Pierceton High School (Pierceton, IN) in 1937 and from Manchester College where she received a BS degree in Education. She received her Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Purdue University in 1964. On May 7, 1943 she married Fred G. Leasure. He died October 17, 2001. Jean was a high school teacher for 29 years, teaching business and girl's physical education. She spent the last 14 years in guidance at South Whitley and Columbia City, IN. Jean received recognition as an Outstanding Teacher. She was a very active member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, IN, and a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association and the National Education Association. Jean and her husband, Fred, traveled to all 50 states, New Zealand, Australia and several trips to Europe. The had also attended 16 Elderhostles. She enjoyed reading, playing games, flower gardening, and keeping up with her children and their families. She is survived by two sons, Max J. (Cindy) Leasure, Kernersville, NC and Kim L. (Jane) Leasure, Warsaw, IN; one daughter Jacalyn Kay (William) Bucher, North Manchester, IN one sister in law, Rosie Hossler, Fort Wayne, IN; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. One brother, Richard Hossler and one sister Maxine Hossler, are deceased. Family and friends may call Friday, October 31, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Eel River Community Church of the Brethren 2507 E. State Road 14, Silver Lake, IN. Rev. Ron Finney will officiate. Burial will be in Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN.
