Elmer E. Vehnekamp, 72, North Manchester, IN died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Wabash County Hospital. He was born at Sheridan, WY on June 4, 1941 to William & Raetta (Anderson) Vehnekamp. They are deceased. Elmer graduated from Sheridan High School in 1959 and attended Sheridan College for 3 years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed hiking the mountains of Wyoming. On February 14, 1985 he married Phyllis J. "Pete" Day. She survives. He was employed at Croker Bank in Eureka, CA for several years and was later President of Big Horn Credit Union in Cody, WY. He and his wife Phyllis were a motel management team for LaQuinta Motels for 6 years. He retired from Maple Leaf Farms at North Manchester in 2004. Also surviving is his step mother, Edith Vehnekamp, Cody, WY; a son, William Vehnekamp, California; two step daughters, Angela R. (William) Ring, Warsaw, IN and Andrea R. Miller, Huntington, IN. A brother, Billy Ray (Debbie) Vehnekamp, Mandeville, LA and two half sisters, Charlene (George) Stone, Blutte, MT and Teri Vehnekamp, Ankeny, IA. Three step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. A half brother and a step sister are deceased. Services will be held Monday, December 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call at McKee Mortuary on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday. Pastor Ed French will officiate.
