Eli J. Miller

Eli J. Miller, 87, Peru, IN died at 7:56 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the home of his son in rural Lagrange, IN. He was born at Sumner County, Kansas on November 15,1922 to John & Katie (Troyer) Miller. On January 28, 1943 he married Edna A. Lehman. She died March 19, 1995. He was a farmer and member of the Mexico Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Surviving are nine sons, Perry (Arlene) Miller, Lagrange, IN; Floyd (Linda) Miller, Goshen, IN; Mervin (Fern) Miller, Belle Center, OH; John (Linda) Miller, Peru, IN; Orla (Marilyn) Miller, Athens, WI; Harvey (Sally) Miller, North Manchester, IN; Ervin (Rita) Miller, Abbotsford, WI; David (Sara) Miller, Pendleton, IN; Thomas (Sharon) Miller, Lewisburg, OH. Six daughters, Katie (Levi) Borkholder, Bremen, IN; Mary (David) Heffley, Myerstown, PA; Elma (Doug) Cook, Claypool, IN; Esther (Jay) Denlinger, Jamesport, MO; Susan (Kelvin) Bowser, Owen, WI; Ida (David) Cook, Athens, WI. One brother, Joni Miller, Shipshewana, IN and one sister-in-law, Alma Miller, Topeka, IN. 94 grandchildren, 157 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Marie Miller in 1944, a brother, Ammon. Two infant brothers, Willie and Christy. Two sisters, Susie (John) Yoder and Mary (Jacob) Kurtz. He was also preceded in death by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Church, CR 1200S & Packerton Rd., Silver Lake, IN. Friends and family may call on Saturday, April 3 at the Perry Miller residence, 2400 S 300 W, Lagrange, IN and on Sunday, April 4 from 2 - 5 & 6 - 9 p.m. at the Mexico Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Mexico, IN. The Home Brethren will officiate and burial will follow in Eel River Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN.
