Elaine Marilyn Blocher, 85, North Manchester passed away November 16, 2020 at Majestic Care West Allen, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Elaine was born to Olin and Gladys (Minnich) Royer on January 15, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio.
She graduated from Cleveland Heights High School, Cleveland Heights, Ohio in 1953. During high school, Elaine played trombone in both band and orchestra. After high school, Elaine graduated from Manchester College, North Manchester, in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She also enjoyed and studied visual art, teaching it for a time at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. During her time at Manchester College, she met Lynn Blocher. On August 5, 1956, they were married and were wed for sixty-four years. Elaine and Lynn lived in Trotwood, Ohio, for thirty years, Birmingham, Michigan, for sixteen years, and Zellwood, Florida, for thirteen years. Elaine taught preschool for many years, and was also an accomplished seamstress and homemaker. She made clothing for her family, bridal dress alterations and also made her daughter’s wedding dress.
The loving memory of Elaine will be forever cherished by her husband Lynn Blocher, North Manchester; sons, Kent (Christy Putnam) Blocher, New York, New York and Neal (Thomas Stephens) Blocher, Royal Oak, Michigan; daughter, Brenda (Bradley) Davis, Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Howard (Rhonda) Royer, Longboat Key, Florida; grandchildren, Laura (Andrew) Richardson, St. Petersburg, Florida and Patrick (Anna) Davis, Fort Wayne, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Elliot Davis and Harrison Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A private memorial service will be held Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. that can be viewed via Manchester Church of the Brethren YouTube channel. Pastor Kurt Borgmann will officiate and burial will be held at Greenville Union Cemetery, 200 West Street, Greenville, Ohio, at a later date.
